Lovesick(ness)

Love looks like tears
running down my face –

Like toxic swirls on brown cheeks
collecting in mascara pools.

All of Love’s jokes sound cheap:
cacophonous sounds
mocking an empty room.

I have had my fill of love;
tossed round and round
I’ve gasped for air…

Love watched me turn purple,
teeming with rage
and smirked when I turned
yellow – lovesick.

Love has seen me,
mourned me,
held me –

Love has made me sick.
